201 and 301 cover different skills and can be taken in any order.
This class is about what happens between people. Improv 201 sharpens the heart of great scenework: real connection, clear objectives, and strong reactions. You’ll learn to build scenes around what each character wants, how they get in each other’s way, and how that tension creates momentum, meaning, and comedy.
You’ll also train the most essential comedic skill in improv: spotting and playing the game of the scene—the central pattern or idea that makes it funny, surprising, and worth watching.
You’ll train:
– Game of the Scene: Spot the unusual, name it, and heighten it with clarity
– Want and Conflict: Drive scenes through purpose, stakes, and human tension
– Plot and Story: Let structure emerge from discovery—not planning
