Frequently Asked Questions
Can I participate without improv experience?
Yes. Improv 101 and the Playground Jam do not assume any prior experience with improvisational theater. We will teach you everything you need to know.
Can I skip Improv 101 and start with 201 or 301?
No. The way we teach improv is sufficiently different from other schools that we do not allow students to skip classes in our performance track curriculum. All students must start with Improv 101.
Can I try out one of your classes?
Absolutely. Come join us for the Playground Jam Mondays at Aera. You can watch others play or play along yourself. It's a great way to try out improv for the first time in a safe space.
Do I have to be a native speaker of English?
No. Many of our students are not native speakers of English. In fact, improv can be a great way to improve your spoken English. However, English is the language of instruction and a basic command of the language is assumed and necessary.
Do you offer classes for children?
While all our regular events are geared towards adults, we are happy to organize a training or workshop for children. Please note that we require parental permission in writing for anyone under the age of 18 to participate in any of our events.
Do you offer classes in German?
While we currently do not offer classes in German, we are happy to organize a training or workshop for you or your organization in German. Please email us to schedule a private improv training.
Do you offer refunds?
In accordance with Austrian law, there is no right to cancellation for scheduled leisure services such as American Improv events. All purchases are final. Partial refunds are excluded.
What is your COVID policy?
As of now, we no longer require participants to be vaccinated or wear masks. Nonetheless, all participants in our events must agree to comply with any and all current and future legal restrictions regarding COVID. Non-compliance with COVID-restrictions does not entitle you to a refund.
Which types of payment do you accept?
Classes must be paid in full by the beginning of the first class session. We accept payment via Sumup payment link. Show tickets are sold online via oeticket and at the door (cash only).
